Ponteland Primary School secures flagship status for the Inclusion Quality Mark

Overview

Mrs Johnson, Headteacher said "I am absolutely delighted that we have been reaccredited Flagship Status for the Inclusion Quality Mark. This is an award which sits at the very heart of our ethos as a school as inclusion drives all aspects of our practice.

After spending the day in school for our assessment, the assessor shared the following: “Inclusion underpins all aspects of school life. Staff are passionate, skilled and committed to their school community and recognise all children as unique individuals and help them to develop the values, behaviours, and attitudes to equip them for successful futures. There is a driving determination to ensure that pupils and adults in the school reach their full potential ‘to be the best that they can be’. The school continues to move from strength to strength in terms of its superb inclusive practice and I am firmly of the opinion that the school fully meets the standard required by the Inclusion Quality Mark to maintain its status as a Flagship School.”

Only around 100 UK schools have achieved IQM Flagship School status. This award recognises those unique schools who have held IQM Centre of Excellence status for at least 3 years; and played a strong leadership role in developing inclusion best practice across a network of schools. These schools are committed to extending their networks further and publishing classroom-based research on an annual basis.
