How do I apply?
Our job adverts will state who you should submit your application form to and by when. Usually this will be directly to the school or recruiting manager.
What should I include in my application?
Your application form is the first insight we have into whether you might be a suitable candidate for the job. In the application form you should ensure that you capture all of your educational qualifications and employment, with correct dates, however it is your supporting letter or statement where you can really tell us about your relevant experience, personal values and why you're interested in joining our team. Supporting letters should be written in a readable font (we prefer Arial 11) and should be no more than 2 A4 sides.
Can I visit the school?
We welcome school visits. After all, it is important that you have a sense of the school you are applying to and whether it is a good fit for you - recruitment processes are two way after all. Depending on the role, we might identify suitable dates for school visits in the advert. Visits should be arranged via the school office or recruiting manager.
What should I expect if I am selected for interview?
We make no apologies for our robust recruitment processes. If you are applying for a teaching post you should always expect that we either visit you in your school (by arrangement with your headteacher of course) or that there will be a teaching practice session in the interview programme. Most schools will also schedule a day of events that will likely include a pupil panel and a formal interview with the Headteacher and at least one member of the Academy Committee.
Interviews for Professional Support Staff will vary depending on the nature of the role but may involve a skills test and always a panel interview with a senior member of staff and possibly an Academy Committee member or Director.
What is a suitable referee and when do you contact them?
One of your referees should be your current employer. Your second referee should be someone who knows you in a relevant professional capacity. You should only nominate a personal referee if you have no other suitable, professional referee. If you are shortlisted for interview, we will always contact referees in advance of your interview date.
We do not seek references for applicants who are not shortlisted for interview.
